Writer's Block: Your 15 Minutes

If you had your own reality show, what would it be called? What would it be about?

I have several choices:

a) One of my students told me that my classroom should be a reality show, because I "keep it real" in my classroom and just "tell us what we need to hear."

b) my work with sampson at renfest....it's a ride for sure...

c) or my farm...small, weird, and you get my hubby's tv personality.

Writer's Block: It’s just a game…

Do you pick truth or dare? Tell us why?

Truth...'cause I am still more in control.

Writer's Block: Into the wild

If you could, would you set a zoo animal free? Which one and why?

I wouldn't set anyone into the wild. Our modern zoo animals are born and bred in the zoo environment...remember Madagascar? Those poor animals would be lost, not free.

Two Ducks and a Nest Box

I provide nest boxes of blue plastic for my ducks to find a safe, weatherproof space in which to snuggle in, lay some eggs and hatch some cute ducklings. Dark feathered duck starts here a nest in the box, patiently sets and 30 days later, 3 ducklings, and some unhatched eggs. Beige Duck starts to move in to help her set on the remaining eggs and she probably added a few of her own eggs to the mix. They nest share for about a week or so. This morning I find the dark feathered duck sitting outside the door of the nest box with one egg and she's pulling feathers from the nest box to her new location clearly unhappy with being evicted from her nest. All is not ducky in her world.

(I don't name these ducks as they could be food one day)

What is your idea of the perfect job? Do you think you'll ever get it?

Working with Sampson at TRF doesn't get anymore perfect.

Writer's Block: Extraordinary Woman

Secretariat is the impossible true story of one of the greatest athletes of all time and the extraordinary woman who believed in him. How has the strength and support of an extraordinary woman helped you achieve an impossible goal?

I was blessed with the support of a gracious, excellent veteran school teacher! She showed me the ropes and helped shape me into the teacher I am today. Without her helping me build a solid professional foundation, I doubt I would have lasted as a teacher for my 20+ years or been awarded Teacher of the Year for my school district and a regional runner up. And she's a great friend, too. Peace, Love and Hoofbeats!

Writer's Block: One Thing I Did

What is one thing in life your friends said you could/would never do, but you did it anyway?

I have never surrounded myself with naysayers. I have friends who are supportive and provide insight into the problems I might encounter with an endeavor. But I have never been told, "you can't do that." I have great friends and family.

Writer's Block: Pet central

Some animal rights activists are fighting to replace the term 'owner' with 'guardian' to convey a more balanced relationship between a person and her or his pet. Do you agree or disagree with the importance of this mission?

I complete disagree! I raise animals for food. Some might consider me a murderer by that definition. Sometimes rabbits are pets, but mine are food. If I can buy and sell, then I own. Now, understand my PETS are incredibly well loved and cared for. They are still creatures I own. I have papers for them and if I sell my registered dog or horse, it's a title transfer.

Animal activists need to get out of my business and start working on real solutions to the real problems facing the people of this world.
